About: Too Much Brudders

“Too Much Brudders” is a blog with family stories, poems, recipes, and photos about the Werne, Vayo, Cassidy, Regan, Mehling, and Wigger families over six and more generations.

Twenty-four years ago, when I was pregnant for the third and final time, folks asked middle-child John repeatedly about his hopes for the sibling’s gender.

The answer was always the same: “I want a sister. We’ve already got too much brudders.”

Indeed. I grew up with three brothers and no sisters. And with the birth of James, three sons and no daughters. One grandchild: Cameron (a boy).

Couldn’t imagine it any other way. Wouldn’t want it any other way. And couldn’t imagine any other name for this journal.

This photo was taken on Christmas, 1991. That’s Sweet Baby James, held by big brother Thomas. Middle-child John, who coined the phrase Too Much Brudders is in the red shirt.

My name is Paula. On June 30, 2019, I retired after a career in communications, public relations, and journalism. Finally having time to research our family’s history is amazing. With sites such as Ancestry.com and Newspapers.com, plus family lore, thousands of photos, and the grand memories from those who’re still with us, this “retirement project” is a true labor of love.
