‘It wasn’t the cold …’
My sister-in-law Linda sent me this video from Sunday. It was the final song of the service at their church that morning in Waterville, Maine.
That’s her husband, my oldest brother Harry, singing this painful song:
The Streets of Minneapolis, music and lyrics by Bruce Springsteen
Note: Click the “cc” at the top-right (on your phone) or bottom (on your desktop) of the video screen to see the lyrics.
I asked Harry if he was okay with me sharing the video, and asked if he had anything he wanted to add.
This was his reply:
Linda & I were in Portland (Maine) when ICE agents were in the city. The hotel we stayed at is in a neighborhood with a lot of African immigrants, mostly Somali & Congolese.
Usually we see quite a few of them on the streets & enjoy listening to their musical voices. This time, not one.
And it wasn’t the cold keeping them indoors.

Loved it. Resist. Resist. Resist.
Thanks, Judy. It’s hard to believe the days of Blowin’ in the Wind, Ohio, and Where Have All the Flowers Gone are back. 🥺 #AbolishICE
