‘Turning Pages’
We haven’t had a poem from Mom in far too long!
Here’s one from 1999:
Turning Pages
What is the driver turning to
parked with his back to the sea
I have been singing and turning pages
of the Christmas carols our son
played for the family
Before we left to sing in Indiana
we met a man on Meigs Point here
a former soldier carrying his coffee
telling about his happy life
his Christmas shopping during this vacation
he had turned a page
Below Meigs Point this morning I remember
and I wonder now what page the man
with his back to the sea has turned
~ joan vayo ~ January 11, 1999
Mom and Dad loved Meigs Point, near their home in Madison, Connecticut, and visited that beautiful shore nearly every day.
Even after a snowfall …
