‘Some Things I Only Did Once’
Interesting idea: Think back on your life and then list things you only did once.
Mom came up with her list two days after she turned 78. I remember hearing about a few of these, but there are definitely some mysteries.
Some Things I Only Did Once
Some things I only did once
took a balloon ride
made baklava
painted our daughter’s room
traveled to the top of a mountain
and the bottom of the sea
ice skated in my grandmother’s driveway
chewed tobacco on the back of a bicycle

I remember hearing about the hot-air balloon ride and the baklava (yum!), but …
Mom chewed tobacco?!
(Sounds like something Dad would have dared her to do …)
As far as painting my bedroom, I’m guessing that happened when I was at college. Top of a mountain? I remember Mom once telling me about their helicopter ride over an inactive Hawaiian volcano while on vacation.
Sorry to say, I haven’t come across any photos of these events, but thanks to photographer Paul Thompson, here’s a lovely hot-air balloon photo:

Maybe my brothers will chime in with their memories. If so, I’ll be sure to add their recollections to this story.
Meanwhile, it’s an interesting brain prompt … what have you done just once?
