The muse
Have you noticed the proliferation of news stories lately that people are going a little crazy during this pandemic?
Crazy is the word for newlyweds John and Aubrie. But in a good way.
Good crazy.
They’re having fun creating fan art for, of all things, Ordinary Sausage on YouTube.
This Ordinary Sausage guy is a bit of a nut, too. His shtick is to make – and eat – sausage out of not-so-sausage-y foods. The ingredients are simply not what you’d expect to find in a sausage. For example, he’s made sausage out of pumpkin. Caesar salad. Cinnamon Rolls. Water.
Stay with me now. Yes, water sausage.
The sunglasses-wearing, mustachioed Ordinary Sausage guy invites fans to send in artwork. So, of course, Aubrie and John got to work.
My daughter-in-law says she’s enjoyed painting since she was a wee lass.
Self-taught, Aubrie started painting at home when she was a preschooler.
Her future husband did the same.
Aubrie’s medium is acrylic paint. John’s is … music.
And Cameron’s? Pencil.
Aubrie tells me she likes to create art that makes people smile.
“Nature …
… or goofy.”
She laughs. “The goofy side is more recent.”
Aubrie says painting has a calming effect on her. It’s cathartic. Relaxing.
And once John introduced her to Ordinary Sausage, they laughed till they cried coming up with ideas for fan art.
Once they saw the Water Sausage episode, Aubrie added the “in space” to her concept and got started.
While Aubrie painted, John wrote and recorded parody lyrics to an Elton John favorite.
What else? Sausage Man!
They packaged up the fan art and sent it to Ordinary Sausage Headquarters.
Watch this episode to see what happened (and to learn how to make Shepherd’s Pie Sausage).
The big reveal is about five minutes in …
There’s so much to worry about during this time of Covid. It’s so good to know these three darlin’s are just fine.
