Super Smash Brudders

No doubt about it, our sons love video games.

I stopped keeping track of all the favorites years ago. I do, however, remember growling upon the discovery while Christmas shopping that the Nintendo games didn’t work on the Nintendo 64 unit.

I’m pretty sure I learned to play at least one game with each son. I don’t recall the names, though. With Tom, it was some little guy who dressed like Peter Pan … and played a flute. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

James carries on the tradition. He’s kept in touch with his college chums via online games since the pandemic hit. Lately, he’s conquered their continents in some sort of sovereignty quest.

The next generation is no exception. Grandson Cameron, however, has added a twist. He learned to play Megalovania – a theme used in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game – on the piano:

As much as I feel like I have a pretty good memory, I never could play piano by heart. Not without a lot of extra practice and concentration, anyway. Even for the song title – Megalovania – I asked Cam to write it down for me so I’d spell it right.

He patiently complied:
